There is always much discussion as to how to better student achievement. Too often teachers feel that they bear the sole responsibility of a child’s achievement. In the above article by Donna Gordon Blankinship she draws to our attention a change in this very attitude. As an educator I too have felt the blame from a concerned parent telling me that I was not meeting their child’s needs in the classroom. Most often in these type of situations a lack of student effort could also be brought in to the conversation and how about the parent accountability in making sure homework and assignments are done on time. There is more to a child’s education than the teacher at the front of the classroom. I encourage you to read the article above and leave a comment on your view in this debate.
